DIY Wedding Ideas
When it comes to saving money on your nuptials, DIY wedding ideas are a great way of doing so. Ok it means a little more work for you, but if your budget dictates you have to save some more money, then the DIY route is a great way of achieving your goals.
Have you been to a wedding where the DIY elements turned out brilliant or disasterous. Share your story with us and other brides to be here.
Some of the other benefits of DIY wedding projects are:- They add a much more personal and bespoke feel to your wedding.
- Provided you allow yourself enough time they are normally easy to achieve.
- They are cheaper than buying mass produced items from wedding specialist stores.
- They are a great way of getting your friends involved in your wedding plans.
- You won’t attend another wedding that has used the same items.
You can DIY pretty much any aspect of your wedding. I suspect many of you will prefer to use the DIY wedding ideas for a few well chosen items so that you can redirect more of your budget towards your "must have" items. Perhaps you have your heart set on a particular wedding dress that is a little over your dress budget. If so, you may want to make DIY wedding invitations rather than buying custom made invites and then you can put the money you save towards your dream dress. Although it is essential to get your budget prepared accurately you can fine tune it as you go along. You may want to save a little on some items to make sure you can spend a little more on your luxury items. Some of the more popular wedding DIY items are: - DIY wedding programs and DIY wedding invitations - it's fairly straight-forward to sort out the wedding stationery and programs yourself as manyt of us already have the necessary photo and image editing software on our PC's.
- DIY wedding centrepiece - the table centrepieces can really impact on your budget if you go to a professional florist, when with just a little planning you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost.
- DIY wedding decorations - if you are going to do the decorations yourself the secret is not to get carried away, less is more and less is also easier to pull off.
- DIY wedding flowers - this is an area where most brides are just too scared to take on themselves. But if you allow yourself plenty of time and follow a few simple rules, the wedding flowers are actually easier to do than you may think.
So what if you are not the artistic type? Don't panic, you can still get that unique look but with a little less DIY assembly. All you need to do is buy items that are part made and then add your own unique twist. For example buy your wedding cake already iced in plain white or ivory icing and then decorate it yourself (the bits you will need such as sugar glue and icing flowers etc. are easily available online). You could also buy your own bouquet but make the bridesmaids bouquets and table centrepieces. The variations are infinite and you can do whatever combination you want. In conclusion, DIY wedding ideas are a great way to add a little of your own individual style to your big day. However you will need to be really well organised, start early, get as many of your friends involved as you can and allow plenty of time. No matter how long you think it's going to take, in my experience you will need to double the amount of time you think it will take. Good luck!
